DOOR FLOOD BARRIERS THAT ACTUALLY FIT YOUR DOOR.
Call them door dams, flood guards, or door barriers. Whatever the name, the job is the same: keep water out of your doorway. Ours are measured to your exact opening, fabricated from aerospace-grade aluminum in St. Petersburg, and rated to 10 feet of water.
A door dam ordered online fits your doorway approximately. Under surge pressure, approximately is the problem. Our door flood barriers are built to one doorway: yours.

A door flood barrier is a removable panel that seals a doorway against rising water. Doorways are the lowest, most numerous openings on a home, which makes them the first place flooding starts. Seal them properly and you have closed the front line of your flood defense.
The market sells this idea two ways. Universal door dams use adjustable frames and inflatable or expanding seals to fit many doorways approximately. We do it the other way: measure your doorway, fabricate a panel to those exact dimensions from aerospace-grade 6063-T5 aluminum, and seal it with dual-phase EPDM compression gaskets that grip tighter as water pushes against them. One approach hopes for a seal. The other engineers one.
Custom door barriers vs. universal door dam kits.
| Dam It Defense custom barrier | Universal door dam kit | |
|---|---|---|
| Fit | Fabricated to your exact doorway dimensions | Adjustable frame, approximate fit |
| Seal | Dual-phase EPDM gaskets that tighten as pressure rises | Inflatable or expanding seals that depend on approximate contact |
| Material | Aerospace-grade aluminum, 2.5X thickness of most competing products, 40,000+ PSI | Lighter-duty aluminum or plastic construction |
| Water height | Rated to 10 ft with stackable panels | Typically low single panels for shallow water |
| Installation | Measured and installed by our St. Pete team, with a walkthrough | Self-install, self-adjust, self-troubleshoot at the worst possible time |
| Lifespan | Built to redeploy season after season, with storage service available | Wear on seals and frames with each use |
A universal kit can be better than nothing in shallow, still water. Surge is neither shallow nor still. If you are protecting a Tampa Bay home, build for the water we actually get.
One system for every doorway on the property.
Front and entry doors
The classic entry point. A single panel drops into mounted channels and seals in minutes, with minimal visual footprint the rest of the year.
Double and French doors
Wide openings need engineered spans, not stretched universal frames. Panels are fabricated to the full width with reinforced channels.
Sliding glass doors
Sliders are big, low, and everywhere in Florida. We build barrier systems sized for them, including multi-panel spans for pocket sliders.
Garage doors
The largest opening on most homes gets its own engineered system. See our garage door flood barriers.
Why fit is everything at the doorway.
The seal is the whole product.
Water pressure probes every gap. A barrier that fits approximately seals approximately, and under surge that means water in the house. Our panels are fabricated to your doorway’s exact dimensions, so the EPDM gaskets compress evenly across the full frame and tighten as pressure rises.
Built and installed by one local team.
Assessment, fabrication, and installation all happen in-house in St. Petersburg. No shipped kit, no instruction manual, no adjusting a frame in the rain while the feeder bands arrive.

Dual-phase EPDM gaskets and reinforced aluminum channels. The tighter the water pushes, the tighter the seal gets.
Door flood barriers: common questions.
What is a door flood barrier?
A removable panel that seals a doorway against rising water. Also sold as door dams or flood guards. Ours are custom fabricated from aerospace-grade aluminum to your exact doorway, sealed with EPDM compression gaskets, and rated to 10 feet of water.
Do universal door dam kits work?
They can help in shallow, still water. Their adjustable frames fit approximately, and under real surge pressure approximate fit means a weaker seal. A panel built to one specific doorway seals the way a universal kit cannot.
What doors can you protect?
Front doors, double and French doors, sliders, side and back doors, and commercial entries. Garage doors use a wider version of the same system. If water can reach it, we can fabricate for it.
How high can the barrier go?
Height is engineered per opening based on your surge exposure. With stackable panels, our systems are rated to hold back up to 10 feet of water.
How long does deployment take?
Minutes per door. Panels drop into permanently mounted channels and lock down. A whole home takes about an hour, and one person can handle it.
Where do you install?
St. Petersburg, Tampa, Clearwater, Sarasota, Fort Myers, and coastal communities across Tampa Bay and the Gulf Coast. Every barrier is fabricated at our St. Petersburg facility.

We feel very fortunate to have found Dam It Defense. The pricing was lower than any other company and the product far superior. The install team led by Andrea was thorough, professional, and did an amazing job. Everyone from the owners to the installers was knowledgeable and incredibly service oriented. It was a no brainer to go with them.
Lee was very informative about the system. The panels are light enough that anyone can install them, and they provided extra pieces and even offered to move the sliding system once my patio is finished. The company has been easy to work with. I have peace of mind if another hurricane comes. Would recommend this company!
After our home flooded from Hurricane Helene’s storm surge, we decided to install flood barriers. Dam It Defense installed them at all our garage and door entryways, and they store and deploy them for us when hurricanes threaten. They answered all of our needs. The product is well constructed and heavy duty.
I reached out to Dam It Defense and Lee came out the very next day, on time as scheduled. He went over the process, showed us samples of the panels, and measured all the entry points. He was extremely personable and patiently addressed every concern and question we had. It really put us at ease.
